Hi I’m Gerda Simmer-Elzenaar and I’m joining the blog since the start.
1. When did you join the blog and why?
Immediately I was enthusiastic about it, because now I can create every month a new artwork. Otherwise I don’t take the time (or I think I don’t have the time) to create something new!
2. What is your favorite material? Or way to work?
My favourite material are black pencils and acryl painting. I’m a freelance designer, illustrator, inspired by things from everyday life: flowers, nature, picture, child's drawing, magazines and shopping. Loving fresh, bright colors! My website: www.stijlmetsimmer.nl
3. What other hobbies do you have?
Hobbies: having a lot DIY stuff like making stamps. Love to paint, reading a book
or a magazine. Trying to raise my 2 almost 3 lovely children. Having dinner with friends & family!
4. What inspires you?
My work is characterized by fresh, bright colors and lots of my inspiration comes from nature, especially flowers.

Both Gerda and Leah are doing fine. Congratulations from all of us of The Difference of 25.

Interview Renate Daniels
During coming months we will have more information about the participants. Some of them are joiningthe blog from the beginning! Time to read more about their dreams, favorite artworks and hobby's.
Today Renate will tell you more about herself, by answering some questions.
1. When did you join the blog and why?
I joined in June 2012 after hearing about the blog from a friend. It's a great opportunity to show my work and to link to my website www.renatedaniels.nl. The monthly theme's are often an incentive to make a new illustration that I might normally not have made, or to adapt existing designs. I quite often go on to develop them into greeting cards. You can find them via a link on the news page of my site http://www.renatedaniels. nl/news/
2. What is your favorite material? Or way to work? For example: photographs, drawing with pencil or charcoal, knitting, or painting
My favorite materials are textiles, from fabric to yarn, weaving, sewing, embroidery, knitting and crochet, but for illustrations I like to use pen and Indian Ink, or make cutouts with a scalpel.
3. What other hobbies do you have?
For me, illustration is not just a hobby, but part of my profession, in addition to surface design and styling. My hobbies are crafts, sewing, reading, rowing and speed skating.
4. What inspires you?
Inspiration comes from everyday life, nature, art and textiles. There are patterns, structures, great colours and illustrations everywhere!

Theme of March: Sunflowers
Sunflowers!!! Don't you love the sight of the fields full of yellow sunflowers! A lot of artists were inspired by these big flowers. Van Gogh made several paintings with sunflowers. He made a study of it. First he painted the flowers lying on the ground, later he painted bouquets of sunflowers in a vase. These paintings were made to decorate the guestroom in the house of van Gogh in Arles where Gaugain was supposed to stay. Van Gogh made 4 different paintings but he was only satisfied by 2 to hang on the bedroom wall. Later he painted 3 copies of these paintings. One of them is hanging in The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.
You don't have to make a study of the sunflowers as van Gogh did. Only one artwork is enough! Together we will create our own Gallery of Sunflowers! You can even hang it on your bedroom wall. It's up to you!
You can send in your atwork untill the 23th of March.
