Interview Petra Coumans

During coming months we will have more information about the participants. Some of them are joining the blog from the beginning! Time to read more about their dreams, favorite artworks and hobby's.

Today Petra will tell you more about herself, by answering some questions.

1. When did you join the blog and why? 

I joined the blog from the start. Drawing is my hobby ánd my profession, but I usually don't take the time for drawing as  hobby. Professionally, I mostly work on surface pattern designs for textile and stationary, for instance for department stores. The blog is a welcome opportunity to spend time on drawings just for fun again.

2. What is your favorite material? Or way to work?

I always start with a grey pencil, black ink or a fineliner. Most of the time I start with a rough sketch and finish it on the computer with Photoshop or Illustrator. When I draw by hand I like using colourpencils, pastel or oil crayons mixed with acryl paint or ecoline, mix materials and collagetechniques.

3. What other hobbies do you have?

I like to read, eat, make walks or runs in nature (I hope to get a dog soon to join me), go to the theatre, visit musea, go to the sea, visit new cities, go on a holiday with my husband and two daughters.

4. What inspires you?

For my work, I get inspired by retro (children's) book illustrations, retro illustrations in old magazines, art, nature, children and animals. Other illustrators blog's inspire me as well.
